Freeze Frame: Sports Photography by Walter Iooss Jr.
Freeze Frame: Sports Photography by Walter Iooss Jr. is on view at the Asheville Art Museum from August 12 through November 15, 2026, in the Blossman Companies Education Gallery.
Instead of the usual action shots, the photographs focus on the quieter side of sports: moments of anticipation, solitude and stillness. Iooss has photographed athletes for more than 60 years, and the museum notes his images have appeared on more than 300 Sports Illustrated covers.
Museum admission is $20 general, $15 for seniors 65 and up and $10 for students (plus tax), and free for members. The museum is at 2 South Pack Square. See the exhibition page.
