The Swannanoa Valley Museum & History Center lists Monsters at the Museum: Cryptids of the Blue Ridge on Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 3 to 6 p.m. at 223 W State Street in Black Mountain.

The museum describes it as a drop-in Halloween happening for kids of all ages, with several stations for cryptid crafts, Halloween history, a scavenger hunt through the museum and a photo spot inside the old Black Mountain jail cell.

The museum says its family events in this series are walk-up and that you can register in advance or at the door. See the official museum page for registration and current pricing.
