On the Lathe: Shaping a Movement (exhibition)

On the Lathe: Shaping a Movement is on view at the Asheville Art Museum in the Debra McClinton Gallery, from April 29, 2026 through March 21, 2027. It traces the development of the American studio woodturning movement through key artists who moved the field from functional forms toward expressive, sculptural work.
The show names pioneers including David Ellsworth, Ed Moulthrop, Rude Osolnik and Melvin Lindquist, and later artists such as Stoney Lamar and Robyn Horn, and highlights the relationships between generations of turners.
Museum admission is $20 general, $15 for seniors 65 and up and $10 for students (plus tax), and free for members. The museum is at 2 South Pack Square. See the exhibition page.
