Located on Merrimon Avenue in north Asheville, ananda hair studio is a hair salon whose name comes from a Sanskrit word for bliss. Its website says it was founded downtown in 1995 and moved all of its operations to this north Asheville location in 2024. The salon books by the hour instead of by service. According to its website, the hourly rate includes the consultation and the products used, every service comes with a wash and blow dry, and all ages and genders pay the same rate. Guests can browse stylist bios online, take a short quiz to estimate how long to book, or book with an apprentice. Some stylists offer gender-affirming appointments. The website also says the salon is Green Circle certified, recycling foils and hair, and uses Davines products.
