About Black Mountain
Black Mountain is a small mountain town about 15 miles east of Asheville off Interstate 40, known for its walkable downtown, art galleries, and outdoor festivals. It took significant damage in Hurricane Helene, and the town created an Office of Recovery and Resiliency in 2025 to lead rebuilding. Downtown shops, galleries, restaurants, and taprooms have reopened, and local news describes downtown business as revived, though some recovery work continues.
